POLICE carried out seven stop and searches following reports of drug use in Bournemouth town centre.

Officers Roz, Justin and Neil undertook foot patrols on Friday, August 23, as part of the 100 days of summer operation.

While out, they carried out seven stop-and-searches on people following reports of public drug use.

Also during their patrol, they came across an individual who was having mental health issues at a bank in the town. They were able to assist the person who was in difficulty.

The team visited the library and lots of shops and businesses to discuss their concerns.

Assisting patrol officers Roz, Justin and Neil were also able to help with an arrest.

Justin was even handcuffed by a young man who said he was keen to join the police when he grows up.

A spokesperson for Bournemouth Police said: "The officers also ate lunch out during their patrols.

"Doing so maximises officer time on the foot print, saves time travelling back to the police station and means officers are in a position to respond should they need to; Alongside providing a visible deterrent by their presence."
