MOREBUS is once again showing its support for University Dorset Hospitals NHS Charity’s Walk for Wards event.

The popular flagship fundraising event will be taking place at Upton Country Park on Saturday, September 28.

There is a choice of a 5km or 10km route - or people can opt for the family-friendly 3km course, if they’re looking for something a little more gentle.

Morebus is promoting the event on social media and on its website - encouraging those taking part to travel by bus to Upton House.

Several of the operator’s routes stop at, or close to, the country park - so there is plenty of opportunity to leave the car at home and travel more sustainably to the event.

Morebus head of communications Nikki Honer said: “University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is already our official good cause for 2024 and 2025, and our team is spending the two years raising funds and awareness to help it enhance the treatment and care of patients accessing NHS services at Royal Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch hospitals.

“We also recently donated a lump sum of £50,000, which will go towards the additional CT scanner and additional items for the future purpose-built maternity unit in the BEACH building at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

“University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity is such a crucial local resource, so we are delighted to once again be supporting the fantastic Walk for Wards event, which takes place within the beautiful surroundings of Upton House.

“It’s a wonderful family occasion - providing local people with the chance to walk for a ward or department of their choice and raise funds through sponsorship. It’s also a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon this early autumn.”

Corporate fundraiser Hayley Harris from University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity said: “It’s amazing to have Morebus on board our flagship event, encouraging the public to get involved and to not miss out.

“Knowing our local bus routes run directly to our event is music to many people’s ears. It means people can have a day off driving and parking, while still enjoying every moment.

“From the walking routes, the stalls, live music and much more - it’s a fun family day out.”
