A NEW luxury care home has opened in a ‘stunning location’ with views over Sandbanks and Brownsea Island.
Care South's newest home, Marjorie House, is located at Crichel Mount Road. It has been designed in an Art Deco style and features 50 luxury ensuite bedrooms.
An official opening was held on September 3, attended by special guests, Care South staff, and directors.
Cllr Pete Miles, Mayor of Poole, cut the ribbon. He said: “I love the concept of this care home.
“The building is just grand and very fitting for Sandbanks.”
The state-of-the-art residential home features an exclusive café, bar, and activity areas, as well as access to a putting green and a beauty salon.
Care South named its new home Marjorie House in honour of Marjorie Lewis-Manning, who gave the land to Lewis-Manning Hospice Care before they moved away from the site to be closer to Poole Hospital.
Chief executive of Care South, Simon Bird, said: “It has been a wonderful opening, celebrating the relationship we have with Lewis Manning Hospice and a fitting tribute to Marjorie Lewis Manning.
“The building is all built around this central courtyard, with a putting green and spectacular views from every room.”
“It’s really important to us that we keep our residents engaged with things they have had their entire lives.”
The care home caters to the residents’ requests, such as food preferences and activities and visits from friends and family members.
Each floor of the care home has a dining room, a dedicated activity area, a large communal lounge, and a smaller private lounge.
The terraced gardens feature circular walkways and viewing areas for the residents and their loved ones to take in the views over Sandbanks, Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island, while a landscaped courtyard provides a space for garden parties and barbecues for the residents.
Sebastian Wiencelewski, home manager at Marjorie House, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the first residents into their new home at Marjorie House, where they will enjoy stunning panoramic views over Poole Harbour while receiving outstanding, dedicated care from the team.
“We are very proud of the new home that we have created.”
