A ‘CLASSY collection' of cars is being sold by a Dorset-based auctioneer - including a 1924 Rolls-Royce which appeared in Peaky Blinders. 

The Gerry Wheeler collection of classic and vintage cars is being sold by Charterhouse onsite at Shapwick, near Bridgwater, on September 20.

Gerry passed away a couple of years ago, and his family asked for the Sherborne-based company to auction his car collection.

Estimated at between £75,000 and £95,000, the star of the show is a 1924 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost Springfield Pickwick Limousine.

The car has featured on the big screen and TV, including in Peaky Blinders, Downton Abbey and more recently in the opening scenes of The King’s Man where it was filmed driving down Jermyn Street in London.

Also in the collection is a 1916 American LaFrance, 1928 Lincoln Town Car, 1929 Lanchester Landaulette, 1928 Studebaker, 1930 Sunbeam limousine and a 1939 Rolls-Royce Wraith amongst many others.

Richard Bromell of Charterhouse said: “Gerry was very well known as a keen collector, usually of large engine pre-war cars.

“All his cars are on the button and ready to go having been looked after by Pete his trusty mechanic and friend for many years.”

Viewing for the auction is on September 19, with the auction starting at 12 noon the following day.
