The top 10 places to live in Dorset have been revealed in the latest awards from Muddy Stilettos.

The women's lifestyle website creates a list of the 'best places to live' every year, with there being 10 places included for each county.

Overall, there are 260 included, with the official ranking for 2024 having been confirmed after votes from their readers.

In a post on their Instagram page, the publication wrote: "You’ve been voting for the Best Places To Live 2024 – and the results are in! 🎉 Find out which town/village scored the top spot near you, or where you should be moving to at the link in bio @muddystilettos. Best Places To Live is in association with @knightfrank".

Dorset's top 10 places to live for Muddy Stilettos 2024

On the Dorset county page, Muddy Stilettos wrote: "Picture postcard villages and towns in the lush rolling hills (over half the county is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and on the iconic Jurassic coast, with a thriving cultural scene and a plethora of local food and drink producers (prepare to let out your waistband)."

The top 10 places to live in Dorset as ranked by Muddy Stilettos readers were:

1. Wimborne

Wimborne was the number one pick for Dorset with it being described as a "bustling town set between two rivers, with pretty streets and courtyards, period buildings and independent shops".

2. Sherborne

Sherborne was ranked in second place according to Muddy Stilettos readers with it being praised for its "gorgeous medieval and Georgian properties, an eclectic array of independent shops, cafes and restaurants, excellent schools, a magnificent abbey and not one but two castles."



3. Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis was commended for its "Georgian streets and old alleyways, loads of independent shops and eateries, excellent local schools" and an "ancient harbour".

4. Swanage

Muddy Stilettos highlighted Swanage for its "unpretentious" nature and for being a "super family-friendly little seaside town".

5. Bridport

Bridport was praised for its "vibrant community, rich cultural scene, indie shopping and eateries".

6. Beaminster

Muddy Stilettos commended Beaminster for being a "laid-back, pretty town with a bit of an arty feel and an attractive conservation area around the market square".



7. Mudeford

This Christchurch suburb was featured in the list due to its access to quality beaches, excellent schools, rail links and shops.

8. Poundbury

Poundbury is said to be a "retro urban village" with its combination of "trad design and sustainable ethos" making it stand out.

Located between Poole, Branksome and the centre of Bournemouth, Westbourne was picked out for its "golden triangle of hip independent shops, restaurants and cafes".

10. Studland

Studland rounds out the top 10, with benefits including "white sandy beaches, nature reserves and some large and lovely houses hidden away".
