THE full line-up for Arts by the Sea festival 2024 has been announced with exhibitions set to be themed on taste.
The year's festival has been billed as a 'feast for the senses' as it aims to blend visual art, music, dance, installations and performances in iconic Bournemouth locations on its return on September 27-29,
This includes Lower Gardens, Pavillion Terraces and Pier Approach.
Festival director Andrea Francis encourages visitors to “challenge their tastes by sampling the eclectic and vibrant array of acts and performances on offer.”
Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for culture, said: "This festival is a celebration of the rich cultural tapestry that defines Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
"With so many free, accessible and family-friendly activities, there truly is something for everyone."
Amongst the stand-out installations, this year will be an interactive bubble sculpture named Evanescent by Atelier Sisu which will illuminate the Lower Gardens.
The festival's artist-in-residence, Rebecca Strickson, will also showcase her work, while Jasmin Edwards, the associate artist, will present K*tchen, a satirical circus performance that reflects women's roles in life and art.
A spokesperson for the festival said: "Arts by the Sea is a free festival that brings together large-scale spectaculars, diverse music, intriguing installations, dance, street theatre, participatory experiences and much more, in one unique and celebratory festival.
"It is founded by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (BCP) Council. Arts by the Sea festival receives regular funding from Arts Council England as a National Portfolio Organisation.
"From 2023-26 BCP Council will receive more than £150,000 per year to increase opportunities and improve access to creativity and culture in the region. With thanks to taxpayers and National Lottery players across the country."
Other notable performances include Bournemouth-based band, Gugge 2000, theatrical performer, Vanity Fair, and The Honey Pot which will serve as the centrepiece for Sunday's grand finale.
The finale will see The Honey Pot set alight as a stunning bonfire before a fireworks display will close the festival at the East Cliff ZigZag beach.
