THREE people have been arrested on suspicion of multiple offences after a woman was assaulted in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at around 7.35pm on September 14 of an altercation that had taken place between four people around Boscombe Pier.

Officers attended and three people were detained after a woman was assaulted and taken to hospital for treatment to head and facial injuries.

It is believed that the group were known to one another and it was reported that one of the people involved was in possession of a hammer.

A 35-year-old woman and a 59-year-old woman both from Bournemouth, were arrested on suspicion of assault, as well as affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 57-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

They have been released on police bail as officers continue their enquiries.

Police Constable Rachael Birch, of Bournemouth police, said: “Officers responded swiftly and robustly to this incident and detained three people at the scene.

“We understand that there were a number of people present at the time of the reported altercation and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident who hasn’t already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I would also ask any residents or motorists in the area to please check their home CCTV and dashcams to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”
