AN ENVIRONMENTAL charity is inviting residents to celebrate International Day of Older People.
The charity works within BCP Council to enhance local parks across Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole for the benefit of people and wildlife.
The Parks Foundation is offering a free soup and hot drink for residents aged 65 and over at the Alexandra Park café in Poole.
The foundation is also offering a free game of mini golf and a hot drink from 11am – 4pm at its café in Boscombe Chine Gardens.
International Day of Older People takes place on October 1.
John Hanson, chief executive officer of The Parks Foundation said “We’re delighted to take this opportunity to celebrate the older members of our community and welcome them to join us at our friendly cafés for a day of food and fun in the company of others – all in a beautiful park setting.“
“Older people contribute so much to our charity, from giving their time to volunteer with our Green Fingers groups, to attending our nature and wellbeing activities, and visiting our cafés.
“This day of celebrations gives us the opportunity to show our gratitude for the support we receive, and hopefully welcome some new faces to explore these parks, too. We hope lots of people will come along.”
