TWO young women have been ordered to write a letter of apology to a shop after £150 worth of meat was stolen.
The two women, 21 years old from Poole and 22 years old from Christchurch, received a community resolution from the police.
As reported, steak was shoplifted from the Co-op in High Street, Fordingbridge on Tuesday, August 20.
Ringwood police put out a CCTV image of the two girls in a bid to identify them, and they both came forward.
As well as a letter of apology, the pair are not allowed to attend the shop for the next 12 months.
Ringwood police’s spokesman said: “Thank you to all of you who shared our recent appeal to identify two women in connection with a reported shoplifting incident at the Co-op on High Street, Fordingbridge on Tuesday 20 August. During the incident, £150 worth of steak was stolen.
“These appeals can often prove very successful, as was the case again here. However, it wasn't a member of the public who identified the two women on this occasion.
“This time, it was the two suspects who revealed their identity to us. They both came forward to admit responsibility for the theft and accept the consequences.”
