A BOURNEMOUTH petrol station is understood to be closed since Wednesday after firefighters were called out to an incident.
Tesco Petrol Station on Poole Road was closed after firefighters were alerted to reports of a ‘slight smell of fuel’ on Wednesday.
A witness driving by the station today said that the petrol station had been taped off by firefighters.
A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Rescue Service said: “We were called at 7.51pm on Wednesday 25 September to Poole Road, Poole to reports of a slight smell of fuel.
“One crew from Westbourne attended where they isolated pumps and fuel and used a gas monitor but there was no obvious spillage.
“A Hazmat Officer returned the following morning to inspect the site and advice was given to the staff. Our stop was at 8.43pm.”
A spokesperson for Tesco said: "“The petrol filling station at our Poole Branksome Superstore is open as normal after a brief closure.
"We apologise for the inconvenience whilst we completed some maintenance works.”
