A SHOW featuring the Ukrainian Opera & Ballet Theatre Kyiv is returning to Bournemouth Pavilion next year.
Ellen Kent’s show Puccini’s Madama Butterfly will for the first time offer a £20 ticket price for National Union of Students members, GCSE and higher education students.
This new student offer has been introduced to invite more young people to experience opera, coming to the Pavilion on May 9.
For a fully immersive cultural experience, Ellen Kent’s Madama Butterfly will be performed in Italian with English surtitles.
This award-winning opera returns in a new production with sets including a spectacular Japanese garden and costumes including antique wedding kimonos from Japan.
Puccini’s Madama Butterfly is one of the world’s most popular operas. It tells the heartbreaking story of a beautiful young Japanese girl who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant – with dramatic results.
Ellen said: “Opera transcends the everyday, it has a clever way of weaving so many of the subjects and disciplines we find in the arts - this is what makes it such a wonderful form of theatre.
“From costume design and make up to the power of acting, music, drama, staging, orchestra, performance and storytelling.
“We hope the special ticket price is seen as an opportunity to both inspire and educate.”
