A MAN has appeared in court for keeping an XL Bully in Poole.
Paddy McCann, 23, was charged with possession of / having custody of a fighting dog in Poole on April 12.
Court records show this was a dog named Coco, identified to be of an XL Bully breed.
It is now a criminal offence to own or possess an XL Bully dog in England and Wales unless you have a valid certificate of exemption.
McCann, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the charge at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 1.
He was fined £120, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £48, and costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
A destruction order was not made for the dog. Court records show there was ‘no evidence that the dog constitutes a danger to public safety’.
