A BODY has been found in the search for a missing man from Wimborne.
Edward O’Carroll was last seen in the area of Julian’s Bridge, Wimborne, on the morning of Wednesday, October 2.
However, following extensive searches around the town, officers found the body of a man in the water near Julian’s Bridge.
While the body has yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be 83-year-old Mr O’Carroll.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and his next of kin have been informed.
Dorset Police’s spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with them at this extremely difficult time.
“We would like to thank everyone who was involved in the searches and assisted officers, including Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR), Hampshire Search and Rescue, Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WiltSAR), Wessex Rescue, Wessex 4X4 Response and Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service.”
