AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was reportedly assaulted by a group in Westbourne.
Officers were alerted to a report of an assault on Prince of Wales Road and Nelson Road at around 2.05pm on October 10.
It is reported that a man was assaulted by a group of five or six men carrying wood and a crowbar.
The victim left the scene in a black Audi and is believed to have suffered a head injury.
He is described as white and of stocky build, with short dark hair and stubble, wearing a Muted light navy-blue hooded top and spoke with either a Russian or Hungarian accent.
The offenders are described as being men in their 30s wearing dark clothing, with one being of stocky build with black hair and a beard.
It is believed they left the scene in a black VW Golf.
A cordon was in place while detectives carried out the investigation and traffic was diverted as a result.
The cordon has now been removed from the area.
Around six marked police cars and armed police attended the incident.
Now, Dorset Police are searching for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Jenkins, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this incident and we are exploring a number of active lines of enquiry to identify the victim and offenders involved.
“I am appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the incident in Westbourne during the early afternoon on Thursday to please make contact with us.
“I would also urge any motorists who were driving in the area to check if they have captured any relevant dashcam footage and similarly I would ask residents in the vicinity to check any home CCTV footage from around the time of the incident.”
