A TOWN is set to host a free community training event on using defibrillators, on behalf of the ambulance service.
Gillingham Bowling Club will be holding the session at 7pm on Monday, November 4, teaching residents how to use the life-saving apparatus.
Gillingham fire station shared in a post: “On Monday 4th November 2024, the South Western Ambulance Service will be holding a free community training event at Gillingham Bowling Club, SP8 4QR, on how to use a defibrillator.
“The session will start at 7pm and will last approximately 2 hours.”
It added: “Many thanks to Gillingham Bowling Club for the use of their venue.
“A defibrillator is a portable device that can give a casualty's heart an electric shock, when it has stopped beating normally in a sudden cardiac arrest.
“By using a defibrillator before an ambulance arrives, you can significantly increase someone's chance of survival.”
