A MOTORCYCLE event planned for this weekend has been postponed.

Heavy rainfall overnight across the county has caused flooding on the field where the British Masters Grass Track was due to be held.

The event will see the country’s elite solo and sidecars battle it out to be crowned champion.

It was planned to be held off Willett Road, Corfe Mullen on Sunday, October 20. This has now been rescheduled for Sunday, October 27.

A spokesman for the event said: “Due to the heavy rain yesterday and overnight in Dorset, and with the forecast not favourable for Sunday the decision has been made early to postpone this weekend's British Masters Grass Track.

“However, the good news is, the weather for next week looks glorious, so, after consultation with the farmer, the ACU, local authorities, riders, and our medical team, we are pleased to announce the British Masters is now going to be held on Sunday October 27, all other details remain the same.

“We understand this may not suit everyone and we can only apologise for any bookings or arrangements that may have been made, but as you can understand this decision has been taken out of our control due to the weather.

“The track is ready to race, and despite 200 track mats being laid for venue access, it’s still too high a risk to get vehicles into the event.
