A PAEDOPHILE who was caught paying children for nude images will be forced to live ‘like the mid-1990s’ with a Nokia mobile phone.
Oscar Langford, 20, pressured and threatened three teenage girls to send him nude and sexual images in exchange for money, Bournemouth Crown Court heard.
Prosecuting, Nicholas Cotter, said between February 1, 2023, and February 7, 2024, Langford paid for images from two 15-year-old girls and a 17-year-old.
The offences came to light when a separate parent saw payments of concern, and police tracked the PayPal account to the defendant.
The first 15-year-old met Langford through a friend who he was paying for sexual images, and the pair began talking through Snapchat.
Langford sent around £500 between the two girls and would request certain types of pictures.
Over the period of a month, Langford sent the girl around £1000, but when she refused to send more images ‘he became mean’.
She called him a “****ing pervert” for texting a 15-year-old, but said he did not seem to care.
The girl said in a victim impact statement the defendant has ‘caused her so much pain’ and felt embarrassed to report what happened.
“I fear for other girls,” she said.
“I worry he will not stop, and other young girls will be trapped by him and keep giving him what he wants.
“I hope Oscar cannot do this to anyone else.”
Police said the second victim, the girl’s friend, struggled with shame and embarrassment from the offences.
Langford contacted the third victim on Snapchat, and showed her his tractor, as she also had an interest in farming.
He asked for nude pictures and she refused, but said he kept pressuring her until she sent them.
She immediately blocked him but he contacted her on Instagram and threatened to share her nude images if she did not unblock him.
The girl unblocked him and Langford offered £50 for more images, which she said ‘freaked her out’.
“I felt that I could not tell anyone because I would be judged,” she said.
The girl said Langford made her feel vulnerable, self-conscious and has made her develop trust issues with men.
Mitigating, Thomas Evans, said following his guilty pleas, the defendant’s parents have decided Langford will not possess any internet devices.
He said the defendant will be ‘going back to the mid-90s’ with a Nokia mobile phone.
Mr Evans added two weeks in custody was a “significant learning experience” and the defendant realised he needed to stop.
He said Langford lacks maturity and suffers from social isolation due to being bullied in school for his stammer.
Judge Robert Pawson sentenced Langford, 20 and of Stourton Caundle, to 18 months in prison suspended for two years.
He said it is in the public’s best interest that Langford was rehabilitated.
Judge Pawson added the defendant needed to “grow up” and his victims and parents have been to ‘hell and back because of his idiotic, sexually predative behaviour’.
Langford must also complete 40 days of an accredited programme, 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and pay a £2500 fine.
He will also be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
