I OBSERVED over several weeks recently that the perfectly sound pavements in De Havilland Way were being resurfaced.
I asked the council as to why resources and tax payers money was being used in this way on the pavements when our roads still have many defects and pot holes.
I quote from an e mail response I received, “This work is a pot hole prevention treatment designed to smooth out the footway surface and prevent it from deteriorating etc…”
Regarding the roads it goes on to say “there are far more roads that require maintenance than we have resources available so every site has to be assessed and prioritised etc..”
So the council have resources to “prevent something that might happen,” to pot holes on pavements if ever they exist but little to deal with what has happened, actual pot holes on our roads.
To date the pot holes I reported still remain as do many more defects on our roads.
