NEW FOREST District Council has treated college students to a tour of the latest housing development in New Milton.
Students from Brockenhurst College visited the new development of ten houses and six flats at Moore Close on October 21 and 23.
The new properties will provide new affordable housing to residents.
Cllr Derek Tipp, portfolio holder for planning and economy said: “We’re proud to welcome students from Brockenhurst College to our latest housing development.
“We’ve had a longstanding relationship with the college, and we were honoured to receive their Employer of the Year award in July.”
“We’re committed to encouraging educational opportunities and career pathways in the local community to help the prosperity of the New Forest. This visit not only enhances the students' understanding of their trade, but also underlines our dedication to being an employer of choice.”
Phillip Wood, lecturer in electrical installations at Brockenhurst College said: “The trip gave them the opportunity to see how electrical work is carried out on an active construction site, and they were able to speak to electricians to find out about the work they carry out, how it fits in with the building schedule and how they work with the other trades.
"Several students have expressed an interest in going on to work as domestic electricians after college.”
