FREAKY figures, spine-tingling sounds, and creaking coffins against an enchanting forest backdrop – Moors Valley’s Halloween experience has brought spooky season to life.

Moors Valley Country Park and Forest has launched its new family friendly Halloween trail, running from October 25 to November 3.

I went to try it out – and I can confirm it strikes the perfect balance between child-friendly and freaky.

But what I would say is, the darker it gets, the spookier it gets.

Haunting sounds and illuminations created an immersive atmosphere, and live actors dotted throughout added interactive elements to the experience.

While I was entertained by one posing as a witch at her cauldron, I can’t say the pale figure that appeared early on in the trail didn’t make me jump out of my skin.

As the sun set on the trail, the bright lights of the tree demons created an impressive visual effect in the woods, and lanterns dimly lit the pathway.

I’d say they were kept entertained throughout the experience – able to enjoy the thrill of Halloween but without any intense frights.

And there was plenty on offer for adults too; a autumnal themed gin bar marked the trail’s half way point, serving up flavoured spirits and boozy hot chocolates.

Other traders were parked up at the start and end of the trail, with burgers, fries, Greek mezze, sweet treats and drinks on the menu.

“We’re excited to be showcasing our brand new Halloween at Moors Valley illuminated trail this autumn,” said RG Live’s Matthew Findlay, director of live experiences.

“Visitors will be enchanted by the magical illuminated trail through the forest, captivated by our cast of skilled actors, and spooked by the intricately crafted props.

“Each element has been carefully selected to deliver a high-quality, unforgettable after-dark adventure with fun thrills and chills for all.”
