A WOMAN from Bournemouth has created a Halloween garden of horrors for a special cause.
Residents are being invited to brave the garden of horror walkthrough in Bear Cross on Halloween, October 31.
Set up by Sian Morrison, this event will hopefully bring in donations towards Dorset Mind charity.
Sian has been decorating her house for a total of nine years, seven of which have been raising money for charity.
As well as raising money for Dorset Mind, she has also raised money for childhood cancer.
The reasoning behind choosing Dorset Mind is due to Sian losing a friend to suicide.
Furthermore, she chose raise money at Halloween because they used to go trick or treating together.
Sian said: “It’s all in memory of him.”
Sian is also a children’s nurse and has witnessed “more and more children with mental health issues”.
Over the years, Sian has made, bought and been donated decorations and props for the event.
With the help of her family and the community, the walk through returns today, bigger and better than ever.
Sian and her husband work as a team to produce the creative and innovative ideas on display.
She said: “He’s very good at making my ideas come to life.”
Nine years ago, it started with a cardboard box as a coffin, now the decorations cover the whole street.
Sian stated: “I couldn’t do it without my family.
“They help me with designing it and buy decorations every year.”
Sian is keeping her fingers crossed that they won’t be met with rain this year, as they have experienced rain every single year since they started.
There are roughly around 100 visitors per year.
However, due to it being half term, Sian is hoping that there will be even more people attending.
You can walk through the spooky Halloween garden free of cost, but donations will be greatly appreciated.
Starting at 5pm this Halloween, you can walk through the themed route and collect treats and Halloween themed tokens.
If you want to get involved with this event and potentially donate towards Dorset Mind charity, head to Linmead Drive, BH11 9JE, on Thursday, October 31 at 5pm.
Sian said any donations will be extremely appreciated.
