AS residents eagerly wait for the arrival of The Ivy in Bournemouth town centre, few will know that it is actually a Poole-based firm fitting out the restaurant.

Tekne, based in the Nuffield Industrial Estate, is a shopfitter of more than 50 years and has been tasked with fitting out several Ivy restaurants across the UK.

Its portfolio of jobs boasts impressive, premium restaurants across the UK including working with renowned chefs such as Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver to industry giants The HSH Group at The Peninsula Hotel, London.

Purchasing director Karl Sevestre said his business is known for “crafting stylish and innovative interiors” with an “emphasis on quality craftsmanship and a deep understanding of design”.

He said: “Tekne has built a reputation for creating unique atmospheres that feel both inviting and exclusive.

“[Our] work on The Ivy will bring an elegant, vibrant space that blends beautifully with Bournemouth’s charm, showcasing Tekne's dedication to elevating dining experiences.”

Tekne specialises in the joinery and construction industry and is based in a state-of-the-art 32,000 sq ft manufacturing facility Nuffield Industrial Estate.

Mr Sevestre said the recent project to open The Ivy in the Square for November 12 is “particularly significant” for Tekne.

He said it represents a long-standing relationship with The Ivy Group, which has restaurants in Winchester, London, Oxford and more.

And it’s not just restaurants it has fitted: high profile hotel projects such as 1 Hotel Mayfair, to taking on local projects like the nearby New Forest Limewood Hotel spa are just some of what Tekne has been up to.

The businessman added: “With over 50 years of experience, Tekne continues to build on its legacy, bringing a passion for craftsmanship and a dedication to excellence to every project they undertake.

“Whether it’s creating bespoke furniture or managing large-scale construction projects, Tekne remains committed to delivering the very best.”

Work on The Ivy Bournemouth is nearing the end with more than 100 staff members seen on training days at the restaurant last week.

At the helm of this new venture will be general manager Barnaby Harris-Reid, who brings expertise from The Ivy Chichester and head chef Romuald Richomme.
