A POWER couple’s business offering artistic designs and professional tailoring is the Daily Echo’s Trader of the Week.

Morgan Fereday and her partner James Wilson own Fereday, an alterations, gifts and clothing store in Pokesdown.

She has lived in Highcliffe her whole life offering clothing alterations for around three years from an at home studio.

Morgan has always had a passion for the fashion industry, she said: “I can’t remember how I got into fashion. I used to study music at school but then moved to textiles where I fell in love with it all.

“I ended up finding a love for sewing and Avant Garde fashion.

“So, now I’m a seamstress and fashion designer who does alterations for clothing like wedding dresses and I also rework vintage clothing and redesign clothing and bespoke clothing.

“The new studio is bigger and more visible. We weren't really getting a lot of people through the door in the last shop because it was maybe too intimidating and felt like a studio rather than like a shop.

“We're really welcoming and happy to talk to anyone, but it's hard to get people through that threshold.”

Now, a new shop is set to open on November 16 later this year just down the road form the former studio.

James used to co-own a shop in Brighton and has now brought his experience to Pokesdown with Morgan.

She added: “We've combined our passion of art and the fashion, so the shop itself has got lifestyle bits like candles, incense and gifts.

“So currently at the moment, we're looking at a lot of utilitarian, vintage style clothing.

“Once I get a bit more established and settled, I'm going to start doing my own collection and my own designs.

“We will be having our grand opening on Saturday the 16th of November, but for the mean time we are still accepting alterations and repairs so if you see us in there feel free to pop in.”

The couple will be hosting a grand opening on November 16 at the new store on 855 Christchurch Road.
