A NEWLY opened vintage store has unearthed a piece of history that has been missing for more than 60 years.
The owners of Pokesdown Vintage House in Christchurch Road, Pokesdown, were exploring online auction sites dedicated to vintage finds to add stock to their new shop.
But to their astonishment, they came across a listing showcasing a familiar sight – a large 4ft x 3ft wooden trolly bus sign from Tuckton Bridge.
It was the very same sign that featured on a postcard they had found in the shop when they took it over.
The owners then conducted some research and contacted the seller who confirmed the authenticity of the sign.
The vintage sign, which originally adorned Tuckton Bridge, disappeared during the mid 1960s.
With the end of the trolly busses over the years, it managed to travel more than 300 miles away in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
The couple believes that the sign's journey is as fascinating as its rediscovery.
The vintage sign has taken pride of place in their newly established shop.
The couple are inviting anyone with additional photographs or memories related to the sign's original location to come forward and contribute to the unfolding narrative.
