A SWAN survived a lucky escape after smashing through a skylight of a 25ft high building.
Factory workers at Lush Cosmetics in Poole were startled after a swan crashed through its skylight of the roof in one of its warehouses.
Moyles Court Wildlife Rescue was alerted to the incident and managed to free the bird after it was caught up in netting on November 5.
The swan was then taken to the wildlife rescue centre for multiple bruises and required stitching to part of its wing.
A spokesperson for the wildlife hospital said: “An emergency call was received from Lush Cosmetics at Fleets Corner, Poole.
“A swan was left surrounded by broken glass and suspended in netting approximately 25 feet up above the top floor of the building.
“One of our trained volunteers attended the scene and found the swan had climbed out of the netting onto a narrow steel girder.
“The compassionate Lush staff quickly rallied around and cleared the area below just in time as the swan suddenly descended and crashed onto the floor below.
“He was fully assessed and examined for injuries but unbelievably he had only suffered multiple bruising to most parts of his body and a single cut underneath the top of a wing which needed stitching.
“All his treatment was carried out here at our hospital by qualified staff. He is continuing with medication and making a remarkable recovery from such a traumatic episode.”
