THEATRE technicians at the Lighthouse Poole have been nominated in the Original Music Awards.
Following the launch of grass roots music night Live and Unheard in 2019, Lighthouse technicians have supported features artists allowing them to perform in a professional setting, some for the first time.
Technical manager, Paul Coxon, said: “Live and Unheard has become one of our biggest shows in the Sherling Studio.
“In fact, it is almost too big for the space. It has grown in popularity, particularly over the past year or so, not only with the audience, but also with the technicians.
“Bands love the space and what they get out of it.
“We look forward to Live and Unheard continuing into the new year, and beyond.”
Live and Unheard runs in partnership with Hangover Hil and showcases both emerging and established original music artists.
The artists, most of which are from the South West, pursue new music without the aid of a record company.
The gigs are staged in the Sherling Studio with the same lighting and sound rigs used by professional touring artists.
All bands are also paid regardless of how many supporters they bring.
A spokesperson for the Lighthouse said the monthly gigs provide “invaluable experience” for bands, wit some going on to play much larger stages with established acts.
On Friday, January 17, the Lighthouse will host the Original Music Awards, a red carpet event for original grass root music artists, performers, promoters, venue and devotees.
Tickets can be found on the Lighthouse website or by calling 01202 280000.
