LIFEBOAT volunteers received a King's Coronation medal for their lifesaving work across the RNLI.

Members of the volunteer crew at Mudeford RNLI were awarded the King’s Coronation medal, presented by the station's president, Andy Russell.

The award ceremony was held on November 17 at around 11am as families gathered to watch their loved ones receive the prestigious medal.

Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat operations managers Tim Hewett and Steve Doe opened the event.

Tim said: “The King’s Coronation Medal is being presented to our lifeboat volunteers with five years of service, at the time of the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla on 6 May 2023.

“The UK has issued over 400,000 coronation medals to individuals, including armed forces personnel, prison staff and frontline emergency workers.”

Steve added: “We also wanted to take the opportunity at this special event to recognise those volunteers who had achieved 10 years’ service with the station.”

Neil Siebrits, one of the crew members to receive the King’s Coronation Medal, said: “It was a very proud moment for me to receive this prestigious award with my fellow crew members. Having our families present at the ceremony made it an extra special occasion.”
