BUCCANEERS boss Garry May believes Aaron Baseby’s impending drop to reserve will do the youngster the world of good.
Baseby lines up as Bournemouth Castle Cover number two for the final time in their National League Knockout Cup, quarter-final, first leg, tie at King’s Lynn tonight (7.30pm).
Then, following a stuttering start to his season, he will swap places with current high-flying reserve Kyle Howarth for the Dorset side’s home clash against Buxton next week.
Baseby began the campaign well, chalking up paid 20 points in Buccaneers’ opening three home meetings.
But he’s struggled badly since, grabbing only seven in 14 races in three away clashes and one at home.
May said: “Number two is a tough position and moving to reserve should boost Aaron’s confidence.
“Heat eight is the only time he’s not going up against a heat leader and if he’s not doing well and one of our reserves is, Aaron usually makes way for them in one of his races.
“It will do him good at reserve. He should be able to win some races again and build up his confidence.
“Kyle is only 16 but is getting better and better. He should be a heat leader by the end of the season.”
King’s Lynn: Lambert, Mallett, Campos, Knight, Lowe, Kerr, McDade.
Buccaneers: Mills, A Baseby, Halsey, M Baseby, Mason, Howarth, Resch.
