Parents with children starting primary school in September have just 48 hours to state their preferences.
Families only have a couple more days to apply for a reception spot for their children at their local school.
If your child is due to start school in 2022 then you will need to apply to secure a place before the deadline or risk losing out on your preferred choice.
If your application is received after the closing date, then it will be late and this will reduce your chances of getting a place at your preferred school.
When is the Primary school application deadline for 2022?
The deadline for applying for primary school places in September is Saturday, January 15, 2022.
Although it is nine months ahead of their start date it is important parents get their applications in on time to give themselves the best possible chance of getting a place.
Parents will find out if their child has been offered a space in their preferred school in April.
National Offer Day is April 19 and parents will then have until Wednesday, May 4, 2022 to accept or decline the offer.
How do I apply for local primary school places?
It is recommended applications are made online and you will need to apply via your local council’s application form.
If you are unsure which council you are applying to then you can search postcodes on the Gov.uk website.
When applying online you will need a password and will receive a confirmation email.
You can also apply via post but applying online means you will be informed straight away on national offers day rather than having to wait for post to arrive.
