Despite Government help with the cost-of-living crisis not expected until next month, it looks like a multibillion-pound financial package may be announced as early as Thursday.
According to Sky News reports, Rishi Sunak is meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson tomorrow to sign off the package, which could include a new windfall tax, help with fuel bills and assistance for the most vulnerable.
This quick turnaround follows yet another leaked partygate photo allegedly showing bottles of wine littering a table inside No 10.
According to The Mirror, the photograph was taken after former director of communications James Slack's last press briefing on November 17, 2020 - a time when covid cases were high and indoor social gatherings between people from different households were banned.
Along with the photographs, the Sue Gray report is also set to be released on Wednesday.
While the Government will argue in the current climate the financial package shouldn’t be delayed, it could be seen as an attempt to distract public attention away from the partygate scandal.
