Tom Daley has announced he is retiring from his diving career, following his last competition at the Paris Olympic Games.

Daley who claimed a silver medal alongside Noah Williams in the synchronised diving event at the 2024 Olympics exclusively revealed the news to Vogue today (August 12).

In total, the 30-year-old now has five Olympic medals.

He told Vogue: “It feels very, very surreal.

"I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics. There was a lot of pressure and expectation. I was eager for it to be done… but when I walked out, and saw my husband [Lance] and kids [Robbie and Phoenix] and my friends and family in the audience, I was like, you know what? This is exactly why I did this. I’m here, and no matter what happens in the competition itself, I’m going to be happy.

“It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive,” he continued.

“But I have to make the decision at some point, and it feels like the right time. It’s the right time to call it a day.”

Daley had effectively retired after the Tokyo Olympic Games and moved to Los Angeles with Black and their two young sons but the eldest, Robbie, coaxed him back as he wanted to see his ‘Papa’ compete.

Taking part in the synchronised event only, Daley was partnered with Williams.

This time, the Chinese proved too good but Daley and Williams were comfortably ahead of third place.

Daley said: “Doing it in front of my son who asked me to come back is so special I now have one of every colour.”
