SWIM Bournemouth’s youngest swimmers dominated their age group as the club netted 70 medals at the Southampton Summer Splash meet.
Their tally of 23 gold, 25 silver and 22 bronze medals also won Swim Bournemouth the Top Club trophy for the third year running.
In the 9-10 age group, Swim Bournemouth recorded several clean sweeps.
James Stevens, Jacka Ware and Tobey Lacey won gold, silver and bronze, respectively, in the 200m freestyle.
Lacey led a clean sweep in the 50m backstroke with Harry West second and Razvan Andrei third and a one-two with Andrei in the 100m freestyle.
Lacey also won the 50m breaststroke with Stevens third.
Ware led a third clean sweep in the 100m backstroke with Andrei and Jayden Coombes taking silver and bronze.
Coombes twice took his turn on the top step with gold in the 50m and 100m butterfly.
Stevens won his second gold in the 100m breaststroke as well as bronze in the 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle.
Luca Tamanga completed another one-two with silver in the 100m breaststroke while West was second in the 50m freestyle.
Andrei and Ware came second and third in the 100m individual medley (IM).
The 9-10yrs girls also fared well. Minnie Barratt led a clean sweep in the 50m breaststroke from club-mates Elizabeth Dawson and Honor Whitehead and a one-two with Dawson in the 100m breaststroke.
Barratt and Dawson were also first and third, respectively, in the 200m freestyle and second and third in both the 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke with Barratt also claiming the 50m fly bronze.
Zia Gondouin and Lola Beale achieved another one-two in the 9-10yrs 100m fly while Whitehead and Ruby Hindell added bronze in the 100m IM and 100m backstroke, respectively.
Harriet Fish’s tally comprised gold in the 11-12yrs 100m IM and 200m freestyle and silver in the 100m freestyle and fly.
Gabriel Knight and Lauren East each won two golds and a bronze for Swim Bournemouth.
Knight won the 13-14yrs 50m and 100m backstroke and was third in the 100m fly.
East won the 15/o 100m fly and breaststroke and was third in the 100m backstroke.
Paige Ware and Neve East achieved another Swim Bournemouth one-two in the 11-12yrs 50m freestyle.
Bournemouth Collegiate School’s Kai Weeks achieved a golden hat-trick in the 13-14yrs 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 100m IM.
Five Wareham swimmers made the podium.
James Mundy was second in the 15/o 100m IM and third in the 50m butterfly, Antonia Bourne second in the 11-12yrs 50m breaststroke, Isobel Holmes third in the 15/o 50m butterfly and backstroke, William Longhurst third in the 13-14yrs 50m and 100m backstroke and Matthew Mitchell third in the 13-14yrs 50m breaststroke.
Clayesmore’s Oliver Martin won silver in the 11-12yrs 50m and 100m breaststroke and 50m backstroke with team-mate Charlie Hodges taking bronze in the 200m freestyle in the same age group.
Other Swim Bournemouth medallists: 11-12yrs Arief McKenna (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze), Arohi Singh (2 bronze), Georgina Hawkins (2 silver, 1 bronze), Eva Hourigan (1 bronze). 13-14yrs: Oliver Treasure (1 gold, 2 silver), Milo Treloar (1 gold, 1 bronze), Ajay Coombes (3 silver, 1 bronze). 15/o: Joseph Ling (1 bronze).
