POOLE-BORN Hayley Davis will make her major championship debut in this year’s US Women's Open after winning a play-off at the European qualifier at Buckinghamshire Golf Club.
Italy's Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso won the 36-hole event on seven-under-par, with Davis and Germany's Esther Henseleit finishing in a tie for second on six-under.
The 26-year-old then defeated Henseleit in a play-off to secure her place in the third women's major of 2019 at the Country Club of Charleston, from May 30 to June 2.
The Ferndown-affiliated star said: "I'm very happy.
"It was a long day but a good day and it ended up well. I hit a solid six iron to about 15 feet in the play-off and nearly made the putt."
Davis has been enjoying a stellar campaign on the LET Access series this season.
She tops the order of merit after runner-up finishes at the VP Bank Ladies Open and Terre Blanche Ladies Open.
Davis is set to return to the United States, where she lived for six years, having played college golf for Baylor University.
She will enter the field alongside close friend Georgia Hall, who is also expected to tee it up in Charleston.
