HAYLEY Davis admitted she feared her chance had gone during qualifying for the US Women’s Open.
The Poole-born golfer will make her major debut later this month after coming through a play-off at Buckinghamshire Golf Club.
Davis, 26, finished one shot behind outright winner Lucrezia Colombotto Rosso but level with Esther Henseleit.
And with only two qualification spots up for grabs, the pair faced off, with Ferndown-affiliated Davis clinching the place at the major.
She told the Daily Echo: “When I finished I was on six under and there were two girls on seven under. It was just really good to have a chance to get into the play-off.
“It was a long day so I wasn’t really that nervous.
“I was tired more than anything. 36 holes on that course is quite a lot. I just played really well.
“Going into that play-off I was just going in with confidence.
“I hit a good shot to about 15 feet and then a par was all that was needed in the end.
“From thinking I had played really well and done all I could but maybe it wasn’t enough and then in the end it was, so that was really good.”
The US Women’s Open begins in Charleston on May 30.
