A THUNDEROUS strike from red-hot frontman Tony Lee sent Poole Town top of the Southern League South table.
Lee’s dazzling 66th-minute rocket hit the crossbar before finding the net to give Tom Killick’s side a 1-0 victory over Gosport Borough at Black Gold Stadium.
The victory sent Dolphins to the summit of the division, one point ahead of Tiverton Town having picked up 19 points from seven league contests.
The game against the Boro was also Will Spetch’s 400th competitive appearance for Dolphins.
Poole visit Hartley Wintney in the third qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday.
- Elsewhere in the division, a goal from Lewis Beale proved consolation as Wimborne Town were thumped 4-1 at Truro City.
Beale found the net on 53 minutes for Magpies – but the White Tigers had virtually put the game to bed thanks to first-half strikes from Jamie Richards (2), Daniel Rooney and Tyler Harvey.
James Stokoe’s side, who visit Thame United in the FA Trophy on Saturday, are now 13th in the division.
