DEXTER Sports have thanked sponsors C3IA Solutions for funding which has led to an entire new league being created.
The cyber-security company backed Poole-based Dexters under-11s Lions, helping them to train indoors through last winter, which helped them reach the county cup final.
However, that had to be abandoned due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
But with the funding, coach Greg Partridge was able to launch an indoor futsal league, the only FA Youth affiliated futsal league in the county. C3IA have agreed a three-year deal to sponsor the league.
Partridge, a Royal Marine himself, said: “I knew the company had many military connections and I asked if they’d consider sponsoring us.
“C3IA kindly said they would and although last season ended early due to the pandemic we did really well, even reaching the Dorset County Cup final.
“On the back of the support we launched the futsal league, giving quality competition to other teams in the county.
“On hearing the benefits of futsal for developing players, C3IA have now agreed to sponsor the only FA Affiliated Dorset Youth Fustal League for the next three years.
“This was following a cut in future funding by the FA.
“None of it would have been possible without C3IA Solutions.”
Security director at the company Matt Horan said: “We have sponsored many sports teams and individuals and it allows us to put a bit back.
“When Greg contacted us we were very happy to help and it’s great to see so many kids benefitting from organised sport.
“We’ve agreed to continue the sponsorship for at least another season and hopefully they’ll be able to finish this one.”
