SCOTT Mitchell suffered a disappointing return to the PDC major stage, going down 6-4 to teenager Danny Jansen at the UK Open.
Bransgore ace Mitchell was competing in a big televised event for the first time since being stunned in an opening-round 3-0 loss to Chris Landman at the World Championship in December.
And another Dutchman did for the 51-year-old at Butlin's Minehead.
Jansen, 19, had already been in action earlier in the afternoon, dispatching of Liam Meek 6-2 to set up a second-round clash with Mitchell.
And he raced into a 2-0 lead against the Dorset thrower, before the 2015 Lakeside champion battled back.
Two strong legs in succession were cleaned up by Mitchell to level the contest, only for Jansen to again pull clear at 4-2.
Both players exchanged legs, before Jansen wrapped up the 6-4 victory with an 88 finish to deny Mitchell the chance to force a decider.
The defeat means Mitchell leaves the event with no prize money, while Jansen took home £1,000, after losing to Ricky Evans in round three.
