POOLE Town powered to a big 3-0 Boxing Day victory over Dorset rivals Dorchester Town at BlackGold Stadium.
Tony Lee struck twice to put the hosts in the box seat against former Poole Man Glenn Howes’s Magpies – before Toby Holmes added a third late on.
Victory meant Tom Killick’s side remained fourth in Southern League Premier South, with 11 wins and 37 points from 21 league games played.
Poole went close after seeing a header drop wide from a set-piece in the opening 15 minutes, before Charlie Gunson fired wide for the Avenue outfit at the other end.
Ex-Dolphin Keith Emmerson, who was skippering Dorchester on his return to Poole, was forced to clear away before striker Lee netted the hosts’ first on 35 minutes.
Poole were then given the numerical advantage six minutes before the interval.
Dorchester’s Kieran Douglas was judged to have fouled his man in the box following a long ball forward and was sent off, up stepped Lee to convert his second.
With Dolphins well in control, former magpie Toby Holmes added a third late on.
Killick’s side make the trip to Salisbury on Monday, January 2.
