BOXXER promoter Ben Shalom insisted he would love to see Bournemouth’s Chris Billam-Smith face Richard Riakporhe once again – but was happy to fulfil the fighter’s world title dream.
Billam-Smith’s options remain open having brutally knocked out Armend Xhoxhaj at the BIC earlier this month.
A potential bout at Vitality Stadium has been mooted for May, with Australian southpaw Jai Opetaia an option for the IBF world cruiserweight belt.
Riakporhe remains the only man to beat Billam-Smith, having sealed a split decision victory over him back in 2019. He is set to fight Krzysztof Glowacki in Manchester next month.
Asked what he would like to see next for Billam-Smith, Shalom told the Daily Echo: “He will make the choice. I like the Richard Riakporhe fight because I think it’s one of the biggest fights in British boxing.
“There is probably more money in that fight but every fighter dreams of fighting for a world title and he’s the boss.
“If he wants to do it, we will gladly do it and it’s going to be a massive event, a weekend event at the end of May – this time with the sun out and back on the beach. I can’t wait to be back.”
