CHARLIE Brassington struck two late goals as Swanage Town & Herston secured a valuable three points, coming out on the right side of a crazy nine-goal contest at Portland United reserves.
Trailing 2-1 at half-time, despite an Abraham Adesoji goal, Swans eventually won it 5-4 with Jack Hughes and Ocean Smith on target, before two Brassington strikes, including a last-minute penalty.
The win lifts Swanage up to 12th in the Dorset Premier League table, easing relegation fears in the process.
Facing another side battling to avoid the drop, Swans fell behind at Portland on 14 minutes, Jamie Cleaver powerfully heading home from a corner.
The visitors equalised when Adesoji turned home from close range after goalkeeper Marcus Tan could only parry Smith’s effort.
Back came Portland, moving 2-1 ahead through a fine strike from Troy Walbridge. Goalkeeper Taylor Hibbs got the better of the scorer soon after, to keep the deficit down to just one goal at the break.
Swanage equalised when Hughes’s speculative strike from range caught out Tan.
Troy Parrott’s men then took the lead for the first time, Smith firing in low.
Back came the Blues, Cleaver grabbing his second of the day, before Walbridge fired home from the penalty spot.
Swans then had penalty drama of their own, Brassington firing home a rebound after seeing his spot-kick saved.
Then, in the final minute, another penalty was awarded, this time Brassington finishing it at the first time of asking.
