HAMWORTHY United were handily defeated by Bemerton Heath Harlequins on bank holiday Monday, losing 5-2 at Weymouth.
A topsy-turvy first half saw Hammers come from behind after a converted penalty to lead just before the break, Will Fletcher’s equaliser added to by Remus Nixon.
However, the hosts could not get to the interval further unscathed, Bemerton levelling to restore parity.
Another penalty gave Bemerton the lead for the second time, before the away side made sure of the result with two goals in quick succession.
After claiming a point away at Evesham United on Saturday, Hammers boss Dan Cann made one change, with Tony Rolls replaced by Eddie Hodge.
Just four minutes into the game Hammers had given away a penalty, former Brockenhurst striker Mitchell-Carlton Speechley-Price stepping up to convert.
Fletcher levelled on 32 minutes, the Poole Town loanee evading his man to fire past Amadeusz Skrzyniarz.
And just before the break, Hammers would take the lead. Youngster Nixon latched onto a high ball, before beating his marker and Skrzyniarz to finish.
But on the stroke of half time, Ryan Griffiths blasted home from 25 yards to put both teams into the break at level pegging.
A further penalty from Speechley-Price was added to by a brace from Lamin Jatta, putting the game beyond Hammers’ reach.
