DORSET pairing Sam Young and David Scott have been called up to represent England at the Dream 11 European Championships in Spain next month.
Young and Scott were Dorset’s two stand-out performers this summer, partnering up for a record-breaking unbeaten third-wicket stand of 415 in the loss to Shropshire last month.
Former Somerset batter Young has amassed 945 runs for Dorset in all three formats this season, while Scott accumulated 761 runs and claimed 27 wickets.
The duo join an England squad comprised entirely of 13 National Counties cricketers, led by Berkshire skipper Dan Lincoln.
England have rich recent history in the ten-over competition, having won in 2021 before losing to the Netherlands in the 2022 final.
They are one of 32 countries in the competition and must first get through Group E at the Cartama Oval, near Malaga.
Their campaign gets underway on Saturday, October 9 with matches against Switzerland and Malta, before taking on Cyprus and Romania the following day.
Only the group winners advance to Champions Week, beginning on Saturday, October 16 and finishing with the final on Friday, October 20.
