HAMWORTHY United had to settle for a point against Melksham Town in a 1-1 draw in the Southern League Division One South.
Poole Town loanee Will Fletcher struck midway through the second period at the Bob Lucas Stadium, cancelling out Ben Brooks’ first-half opener.
Boss Dan Cann made three changes to the side knocked out of the FA Trophy by Larkhall Athletic on Sunday, Owen Pelham, Crit Clarke, and Tony Rolls all coming into the side at the expense of Seung-woo Yang, Remus Nixon, and Cam Munn.
Striker Fletcher went close when he saw a header on 24 minutes cleared off the line in what was Hammers’ best chance of the half.
But it would be the away side who would take the lead, Brooks finishing well just before the break.
After the restart, Hammers hunted for an equaliser.
Sean Wright was the second Hamworthy player to have an effort stopped on the line, his shot blocked.
Shortly after the hour-mark, Hammers would restore parity.
Fletcher found space inside the area, before blasting the ball into the top corner.
Minutes later, Hamworthy would have an advantage – an extra man for the final 20 minutes, after Robbie James was shown a second yellow.
Despite this, Hammers were unable to find a winner, leaving them 16th with five points from six games.
