BOURNEMOUTH fighter Carl Hobley ended his bare-knuckle boxing career on a high, claiming back the BKB cruiserweight world championship.
Hobley defeated fellow Bournemouth brawler CJ Mills to win the cruiserweight world title for the second time at the Indigo at the O2 arena in London on Saturday, November 25.
He had previously defeated Eric Olsen in November 2021 to originally claim the belt.
The deciding blow came midway through the fight, Hobley connecting with a right hook that sent Mills to the floor.
With Mills struggling to get back to his feet, the referee called the bout, giving Hobley a third-round stoppage.
Speaking after the fight, Hobley shared: “Feeling good, buzzing, We always knew that at some stage we’d catch CJ. My style and his style they just don’t mix very well. I’m an aggressive fighter.
“Now, I’m going to retire. As much as Dan (Podmore) wants to fight me, I’ve got nothing to offer – the tanks empty. So we’ll see.
“I’m going to sign off – I’ve got to.
“It’s a dangerous sport and I’ve got too much heart. I’ll fight anyone. The size of the men I’ve fought – this was my seventh fight, I lost to Mickey Parker (via) a doctor’s stoppage. You end up getting hurt in the sport."
