POOLE angler Curtis Driver has been crowned junior world champion.
Driver was competing at the FIPS-M World Championships in Domburg, Holland, as part of the Angling Trust England under-16 shore fishing team.
The Corfe Hills School student was involved in four days of competition matches, of four hours each, on different beaches.
Eight different countries took part, with five in each team, competing against 40 young anglers in each match.
Driver, who lives in Broadstone, won the first day outright, before adding a third and second place later on to finish first overall.
This saw Driver, who is now 17, win the individual gold medal and become world champion.
Portugal’s Tiago Correia finished second, with Ireland representative Nathan De Kleer in third.
England as a team took bronze.
