THE SOUTHERN League have confirmed that Wimborne’s defeat at Larkhall Athletic will stand following the abandonment of the game.
Magpies were trailing 3-1 at Larkhall On Saturday, January 13, when the game was abandoned in injury time with Bedford requiring medical assistance.
After a lengthy wait, the midfielder was eventually taken to hospital.
Following further tests, Bedford was diagnosed with a lacerated kidney.
A post on Wimborne Town’s Twitter read as follows: “The Southern League held an Emergency Committee on Thursday, January 25 to discuss the Larkhall abandonment and confirmed the 3-1 loss will stand, which we agree is the right decision.
“Our focus remains on Jez Bedford, who we can confirm is making steady progress in his recovery.”
The decision now means Wimborne have 40 points from 20 games played, although that has no bearing on the Southern League Division One South table with Magpies still in first.
