WIMBORNE TOWN returned to the summit of the Southern League Division One South with a 2-1 victory over Melksham Town.
After a disappointing 2-2 draw at home to the eight men of promotion rivals Cribbs on Saturday, Magpies came from behind to preserve their unbeaten league record at New Cuthbury.
All the goalscoring action was consigned to the first period, Cameron Munn and Harry Morgan overcoming Sam Hendy’s fifth minute opener for Melksham.
Boss Tim Sills made two changes to the side held by Cribbs last time out, Josh Carmichael and Harry Baker in for Matty Neale and Jack Lovell respectively.
Magpies found themselves behind early on. Goalkeeper Ross Flitney had denied the away side initially, but the rebound fell to Hendy to tuck home and open scores.
But just four minutes later, parity would be restored.
Cameron Munn made it two goals in two games when he converted from Matty Burrow’s centre.
The turnaround was complete nine minutes from the half-time interval, Morgan putting his side ahead for the first time on the night.
After Harry Baker was prevented with a save, Morgan was on hand to finish.
Magpies: Flitney, Hanger, Walker, Jackson, Scorey (Griffin, 86), Carmichael (Neale, 67), Morgan, Munn (Hoey, 75), Beale, Burrows, Baker.
Unused subs: Cocklin, Lovell.
