CHERRIES' development squad bounced back from their Hampshire Senior Cup exit to AFC Totton with a 2-0 victory away at Cardiff City in the under-21s Professional Development League.
Goals from Dominic Sadi in either side gave Cherries all three points in the Welsh capital.
Head coach Alan Connell made just one change to the side that started the midweek defeat to Southern Premier League South outfit Totton, Jonny Stuttle making way for Kian Tydeman.
Early on goalkeeper Callan McKenna was called into action to halt Cian Ashford’s effort.
Sadi would also register an early effort, his effort from distance held by Joe Thomas in the Cardiff goal.
Cherries were on top in the first half, but had to wait to make their control show on the scoreboard.
Midway through the opening 45, Balraj Landa fired over from Tydeman’s pass.
Thomas would once again thwart a long-ranged Sadi effort, the goalie pushing away an on target free-kick.
But Thomas could not prevent Sadi’s next chance.
The shot stopper did manager to thwart Tydeman’s initial shot, but was powerless to prevent Sadi opening scores from the rebound.
Early into the second period Sadi was a threat again.
This time he could only be stopped in illegal fashion, Cardiff fouling the midfielder in the area.
Sadi dusted himself down to take the penalty, sending Thomas the wrong way to double both his personal tally and his side’s winning margin.
On 68 minutes, Landa went close to Cherries’ third, beating two men before placing his effort off target.
Late on McKenna preserved his clean sheet by denying Jai Semenyo, the younger brother of Cherries first-team star Antoine Semenyo.
Cherries: McKenna, Tonks, Osborne, Brown, Kinsey, Harris, Williams, Sadi, Tydeman (Johnson 67), Landa, Gregory.
