A GAFFE-FILLED end to Cherries’ match with Everton saw the hosts salvage all three points with a 2-1 win.
Dominic Solanke had levelled Josh King’s record for most Premier League goals in a single season for Cherries with his 16th strike of the campaign, setting Cherries on their way to a third win in four.
However, a dropped cross by Cherries keeper Neto allowed Everton substitute Beto to tap home and seemingly snatch a point for the Toffees.
But another tame ball into the area caused havoc at the other end, Toffees captain Seamus Coleman turning home into his own net to gift Cherries the win.
Tyler Adams was handed a first start for Cherries after stepping up his recovery from a hamstring issue with minutes for his country during the international break.
That was one of four changes as national team duty also had its negative side effects, Luis Sinisterra and Ryan Christie returning to Cherries with issues.
Alex Scott made way for Justin Kluivert, Marcus Tavernier, Adams, and Milos Kerkez replacing Sinisterra, Christie, and Dango Ouattara respectively.
There were promising signs from the off. Lewis Cook’s sliced pass found Antoine Semenyo out wide on the right, allowing the forward to cut in and fire.
Jordan Pickford was equal to the effort, put could only push it way from goal and to the feet of Cook, who volleyed over.
Neto made a decent save of his own, palming away Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s effort from inside the box.
Nearing the end of the half, Cherries went closest.
Whilst Cherries were appealing for a penalty for a foul on Adams inside the box, Semenyo capitalised on the loose ball.
His shot smacked off the post, the rebound just about dealt with by Everton.
At the start of the second period Tavernier went close, his effort pushed away by Pickford in the Everton goal.
The Toffees felt they should have had a penalty when the trailing leg of Adams caught Calvert-Lewin inside the area.
However, referee Sam Barrott did not agree, allowing play to continue.
It was Everton’s turn to hit the post. A corner taken short found Dwight McNeil inside the area, the winger striking the post with his effort.
Shortly after the hour mark, Kelly made an instant impact as a substitute.
After Semenyo had outmuscled Jack Harrison in the middle of the park, Cherries advanced the ball to the left-wing.
Tavernier laid the ball off to the overlapping Kelly, who delivered a pinpoint cross onto the head of Solanke.
The striker still had work to do with the header, sending it above the outstretched arms of Pickford and into the back of the net.
Cherries had their tails up.
Cook’s defence-splitting pass allowed Semenyo to arrive into the box with the ball at feet, the winger trying to slip in Solanke.
However, the pass overran its intended target, almost teasing Solanke as it rolled out for a goal kick.
Everton’s response in search of an equaliser was to launch crosses into the Cherries’ area, without finding much joy.
Cherries almost made it two with a cross of their own.
Philip Billing’s deceiving ball was met by Pickford, who could only push the ball onto Solanke.
Fortunately for the keeper, and Everton, Solanke could not do anything with it, bouncing harmlessly out for a goal kick.
Everton persisted with their aerial balls.
McNeil’s looping effort looked dangerous but appeared to have been quelled by the hands of Neto.
However, the keeper spilled the ball directly into the path of Beto, who tucked home to restore parity.
But there was yet more misfortune from a centred ball.
Adam Smith had the right idea with his cross, but there was no attacker able to get on the end of it.
That did not matter, as Everton right-back Coleman bumbled and bundled the ball over the line to gift Cherries the win in stoppage time.
