POOLE’S Owen Rennie is celebrating double football success with his team in Berkshire.
Formerly of Poole Grammar School, Rennie now plays football for Bradfield College, having moved to the boarding school near Reading in Berkshire, following his release from AFC Bournemouth’s academy.
Bradfield’s first XI won both the HUDL league and ISFA Cup this year.
Rennie features for the side alongside his sixth form studies in economics, business and PE.
“To win both the league and the cup this season has been fantastic and a great achievement for the team and the college,” said Rennie.
“The opportunity to move to Bradfield as a football scholar after being released by Bournemouth has been amazing and one that I’ve grabbed hold of with both hands.
“I’m very grateful to the college for believing in me and to the coaches at the college for all that they’ve done for me.
“The quality of the football that I’ve played at Bradfield has been quite superb.”
In the league, Bradfield competed against nine of the nation’s top footballing independent schools, winning six matches and drawing two.
A triumphant final day at Loughborough University saw Bradfield seal the league title with a 5-0 win over mid-table Royal Russell.
In the ISFA Cup, Bradfield conceded just one goal en route to the final, beating the likes of Manchester Grammar School, Ardingly, Shrewsbury and Millfield.
In the final, Bradfield clinched a 3-2 win over Cheadle Hulme at Milton Keynes Dons’ Stadium MK, to lift the trophy for the third time in six years.
Bradfield, under former Charlton Athletic coach David Chatwin, went on to reach the ESFA semi-finals, losing to Barking Academy.
